This is a great budget family hotel. The south Nanaimo area was convienent for us and the double Queen room with kitchenette was great. They have a bunk bed room option but unfortunately they were all booked. The hotel is great overall but does need a renovation to compete with the looks of other Nanaimo hotels. They give 20% off the attached Rickies restaurant, and they have a indoor pool and hot tub, so that makes up for the cosmetic issues. Overall a good choice.
A decent budget property. It little bit removed from the centre of town but reasonably close to both Departure Bay and Duke Point ferry terminals. The is a Rickie's restaurant in the building. The included free continental breakfast was terrible. The muffins were dry and there was no fresh fruit. The rooms are decent albeit a little rough - not sure the last time the rooms were updated. The king size bed in my room should have been replaced a few years ago as it has a serious sag on one side - I had to sleep in the middle to find a level and firm spot. The air conditioner in my room didn't seem to be working (not blowing cold air) but lucky it wasn't too hot and opening the window was enough. 3 stars because of the room being past its prime and the terrible included breakfast.
Decent hotel with clean roomsIn house restaurant with good options for food. Free complimentary breakfast and close to the harbour/ lake -1 for upkeep as the hotel seems a bit rundown and lacks intuitive access to power outlets and things to make the stay more comfortable. Overall experience was good
Great place to stay with the family. Little outdated but not bad. Has pool and hot tub, we stayed in a kitchenette which was good. Stationed in central Nanaimo so close to south and north end making it a short drive to all amenities.
If you drive to this hotel, do yourself a favour and enter and exit via Haliburton Avenue. Much easier than trying to find the entrance off the busy Island Highway and making a dangerous left turn at night in the rain. Maybe if the "Enter" sign was actually working and lit up at night, I wouldn't have missed the entrance and have to turn around. The room and beds were comfortable. A bunk bed with a double bed below that slept our three kids, once they fought it out as to who was sleeping where, and a queen sized bed for mom and dad around the corner for a bit of privacy. No desk, sofas, or chairs in our room, but there wasn't really room for them.Breakfast room coffee looked awful and the coffee machine was giving the staff nothing but trouble that day. Shower curtain rod hanging down. Grit at the bottom of the pool. No HDTV on any of the TVs I saw. For some weird reason, the 100 suites are on the top level and the 200 suites are on the bottom floor, which is confusing.
