Good selection and friendly staff. Some items were more expensive than other grocery stores. The ready to eat food was excellent.
Produce is good and a decent quality. Have not bought a lot if neat here but what I have purchased was OK. They have daily and weekly specials that are a very good deal.Great choices in there prepared food section. Chinese food is really lacking in our opinion in both choice and flavour. "Typical American Chinese" not really Chinese at all. Nice little cafe but they will not customize and if it is already made it isn't hot.
We stopped in for chinese food tonight and it was closed so we got leftover chinese(Im hoping it was fresh, Ill let you know later). I wanted some "fresh salad" that they advertise and asked how fresh it was, she said it could be up to 2-3 days old (thank you for your honesty) so I said no thank you and apologized for wasting her time. She was snippy and huffing at me when I said that and seemed put out that she needed to help me in the first place. However, the cashier that was on was amazing and that did make it a wee bit better. She was fast, friendly and efficient. My 12th visit there will now not happen as the chinese food did not taste overly great in the end.
This place is pretty good for a grocery store, especially with their renovations. Customer service is always good and the deli has some very basic recipes but their bakery is pretty special!
This store has a very pleasant environment to shop in. It is well lit, and not ever crowded. The restaurant portion of this grocery store is excellent. The staff are friendly and the store is well stocked. Unfortunately their prices are a bit high in the grocery section. They tend to about 15% higher than other stores in Nanaimo, and their sales will mostly just make them about the same price. That being said they stock a great variety of items, and will often carry items budget based grocery stores will not.
