Excellent place to take the dogs swimming. Poop sack dispenser and garbage can on site.

Great park, with several waterfalls and a large dogs off-leash section.
This park is my favourite park in Nanaimo. It's fairly large and centres around two small lakes separated by spillways (that are off limits). There's a small swimming area at the lower Dam, including places to sit or lay out on a sunny day, a swimming float and two little beaches that are fun to enjoy with kids. On a summer afternoon, the lower dam swimming area is likely to be occupied mostly by teenage kids! There's a nice little bathroom change area by the lower dam, and paved smooth trails from the parking area through the park right up to the upper dam lake where the off-leash dog area is. The upper lake seems to be mostly a dog swimming hole, but it's beautiful and a little quieter on busy days than the lower dam. NOTE: the dog off leash trail around the upper dam is not wheelchair accessible, though you can reach the upper dam lake itself on completely paved, accessible trails.
